The Florida coast is way too precious to allow more oil drilling. President Obama announced his intent to allow drilling off the Florida coast Wednesday. This comes in spite of his campaign rhetoric against such drilling. Oh well what’s one more lie from a politician! This one could be catastrophic. the Florida coast attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists every year. These folks flock to the coast from out of state and in. The argument is that we need the additional oil that could be drilled for in the Gulf of Mexico. I say let’s continue with retrofitting buildings and advancing the use of solar , wind power, and nuclear power plants. There is a movement afoot to use energy saving appliances, lights, and other energy saving products such as energy efficient heating and cooling systems. Don’t gamble Floridas’ beautiful beaches. The oil companies have a long and disastrous record of leaving a mess for others to clean up. Not only in the United States but around the world.
Some argue that by letting the oil companies drill in the Gulf it will somehow drive down the price of gasoline, it won’t happen. Why would the oil companies sell their oil from the Gulf cheaper than the other oil? They wouldn’t, that argument doesn’t make economic sense. Neither does the talk of more jobs. That won’t happen either. You don’t hire people you don’t need. You shut down one drill rig and then you start the new hole.
Floridas’ Gulf coast is made up of pristine beaches, beautiful bays, and inlets. There is a viable commercial fishing industry. Sport fishing is the leading sport in the state of Florida. Please call your congressmen and senators and tell them not to ruin our beches, bays, islands, and inlets. Tell them to hold off rolling the dice on something as irreplaceable as the Gulf of Mexico. Your opion matters. A lot more than the politicians we sent to Washington D.C..
Is violence and threats againt politicians the right way to seek chnge? I don’t believe it is. Violence accomplishes nothing. Nothing except more violence. The police will be more prone to be violent when people gather to protest peacefully. Violence gives the politicians something to talk about and take the hot lights off their many misdeeds. The converstion for change needs to stay on the misguided politicians, and their self serving and wrong policies. Not on some frustrated individuals who take a violent approach, believing wrongly their violence will bring change. No more threats of bodily harm and damaged office buildings. That won’t bring the changes we need in this administration. We are not in the wild west nor are we a third world country. We are a country where change can and will be brought by voting for leaders who really intend to bring about change. We don’t want to go from the socialist country the current crop of Washington politicians strive for to one strangled by laws against free speech and peaceful demonstrations.

Once again let’s hope the good people of Nevada have had enough of the wrong headed leadership of Senator Harry Reid. Or lack of leadership. He’s part of the powerful Democratic leadership in Washington D.C that ignores the wishes of the American people. his idea of government is to do whatever suits his fancy or his friends pocketbooks. He refuses to change centuries old laws that forbid mining companies from paying royalties to the government on the minerals they strip from the earth. No matter that these companies remove mountains and leave gaping holes in the ground. They also poison the land for thousands of years in the future. They poison the people who reside in the state. Mining is not a clean industry. It is not a safe industry. They pump ton on ton of heavy metals that are dangerous to man and animal. With the deficits that the politicians in Washington D.C. have piled on future generations why shouldn’t these multi natational corporations pay royalties on gold, silver and other precious metals to the states where they’re mined. The federal government charges sportsmen to hunt government land or to graze cattle on the land, why not charge the big boys for the priveledge of raping the land. The simple reason is these companies pay off the politicians through campaign donations.Once again the law needs to be changed and we could be closer to that happening if the citizens of Nevada vote Reid out of office.
Why is it that a Washington D.C. insider such as Alan Greenspan says something and it’s taken as the gospel truth. He’s the same man that led our country into the worst recession since the Great Depression. The only thing is he’s older and more senile. He advocates cutting the benefits of Social Security because of the recession he helped engineer. Social Security is not an entitlement program like welfare. Many millions of workers have paid into the fund for decades, counting on Social Security to supplement their incomes. The self employed and small business owners paid both the employee tax and the employer tax, in effect doubling the amount they have to pay. The government took our money and supposedly invested it wisely over the years. Now elitests such as Greenspan want to cut benefits when they should be raised. The D.C. crowd says no raises for at least two years because the cost of living is down. What world do they buy groceries in, where tomatoes are five times higher than last year. Packages are smaller and prices are up. Does that sound like the cost of living is down? Gasoline is still higher than it should be. Insurance on homes and cars rise every year. Not many folks can afford to drive except when absolutely necessary. Automobiles cost more than some homes. Where in the world do the politicians get their numbers? The truth of the matter is the crooked politicians we sent to Washington D.C. have squandered our money away and don’t want to admit to their crime. Yes, it’s a crime the way the politicians in Washington, in the state capitols, and on the local level waste money on trivial matters that only benefit their and their friends pocketbooks. Here, once again we as ordinary citizens need to voice our fear and concern over the way the country is being run. It’s time the politicians in Washington start listening to the American public and doing what we want for a change instead of cramming what we don’t want down our throats.

The idiots in Washington D.C. are at it again! I wrote the other day about receiving a letter telling my household we would be receiving a census form. You would have had to be shipwrecked on an island to not know about the 2010 census. Yesterday another letter from the census bureau telling us that it was in the mail. This one went on to say that it was against the law to fail to fill out the census form. My household as our family is referred to by the census bureau is a law abiding family. We occasionally break the speed limit or roll through the stop sign at the end of our block. Nothing too serious. We don’t need to be threatened to fill out their forms. Just send the forms, we’ll fill them out and return them. I promise. Why does the government waste so much money on such trivial things? The people in Washington D.C. need to return to their homes, live on a fixed income and go to their mailbox and open their own mail. They would then return to Washington with a new and realistic outlook.
Those people we send to Washington D.C. never cease to amaze me. Poll after poll shows the majoity of American people didn’t want THIS health care bill passed. Once again the politicians ignored the people and voted for something they haven’t even read. When they’re out stumping for our votes they tell us they hear us, yet when they get to Washington they ignore the wishes of their constituents and vote the way they are told by the party leadership. Whatever happened to representing the people who sent you to Washington?
I pray that they don’t take up the issue of redoing Social Security next. They claim the system is broken. The only thing that is broken is the trust that the politicians would do the right thing. Instead of using the money they take from us taxpayers to fund Social Security they use the funds for other questionable pork projects. Don’t mess with Social Security, too many people depend on what has been promised in the past. There would still be an over abundance of funds in the S.S. account if the money wasn’t stolen by crooked politicians fom both parties.
Our household received a letter from the census bureau the other day. We were expecting a census form so when the letter came I assumed that was the form that has been the talk of the town for so long. WRONG! It was a letter saying that we were going to receive a census form. WOW! Why in the world with the U.S government running massive defecits would they choose this path to notify its citizens of the forthcoming census forms. Why not just send the forms? It would’ve made me much happier to get the form than a dumb letter from the government telling me that eventually we would receive the forms. It’s stupid stufff like this that makes me believe that the fat cats in Washington D.C. don’t have a clue about how to run our country. Speaking of the census why would they run ads during the Super Bowl. These are the most expensive time slots ever, why not get more bang for your buck and pick prime time on the most popular network shows. That makes more sense to a guy who has to live on a fixed income. Why advertise at all, send the forms and inform the people they’re due back on May 15th or whatever. Stop wasting our tax money. You greedy politicians didn’t earn it, it’s not yours to waste.
